A leading food and beverage customer required consistent, reliable delivery of critical commodity components to support uninterrupted production operations. Maintaining high on-time delivery performance while balancing inventory levels and fluctuating demand presented an ongoing supply chain challenge.
The Solution
S&F Machining partnered closely with the customer to develop a proactive inventory and replenishment strategy designed to ensure product availability and delivery reliability. The program included establishing firm lead times, developing accurate component demand forecasts, and agreeing upon minimum inventory balances to support production requirements.
To further improve efficiency, S&F implemented a pull-based inventory system that allowed the customer to draw components directly from inventory as needed. Inventory levels were continuously monitored and replenished according to predetermined thresholds, ensuring seamless supply while minimizing excess stock. Through this approach, S&F consistently met customer delivery commitments and maintained a target delivery-on-time (DOT) performance of at least 97%.

Through strategic forecasting, inventory management, and disciplined replenishment processes, the company achieved an impressive 98% delivery-on-time rate, surpassing the established performance target and helping the customer maintain uninterrupted operations.
