The Challenge
Following the acquisition of Key Driver by S&F, the company assumed responsibility for supporting all existing units through repairs and replacement parts while also manufacturing and supplying new units. One of the primary challenges was the lack of complete engineering documentation. Many of the original drawings and prints were either unavailable or contained missing information, making it difficult to accurately reproduce components and maintain production continuity.
The Solution
To establish a reliable manufacturing process, S&F first conducted a comprehensive inventory of all acquired stock. The team then leveraged CAD technology to recreate and develop the necessary engineering drawings, providing accurate machining documentation and a valuable resource for future reference. Using CAD/CAM software, components that were currently on order or approaching low stock levels were programmed and prepared for production. S&F also proactively contacted existing customers and users to communicate that the company had assumed manufacturing and support responsibilities. Throughout the process, design improvements and manufacturing updates were implemented to streamline production, enhance efficiency, and improve overall product performance.
The Results
The project resulted in updated and accurate inventory levels, enabling more effective production planning and stock management. Customer orders were successfully fulfilled without disruption, ensuring continued support for existing users.
The improved manufacturing processes and customer engagement efforts also generated repeat business, helping strengthen long-term customer relationships and support future growth.
